As a fiscal conservative and small business owner I have learned through the years how to be a good steward with the people’s money. As your Alderman at Large, it is my mission to continue to expand our businesses by attracting a strong workforce that can live and raise their children in our small town. I desire to create a communication line between the citizens and those in publicservice where needs and concerns can be addressed with transparency. Investing in our public safety and maintaining Brandon’s superiority in service offered by those who serve in the uniform is a priority. I would like to see our growing city create incentives to attract new development of businesses wanting to call Brandon home and invest in our community. Just like most, I want Brandon to be better than yesterday.

MEET ERIC

What an honor it is to be asked by so many to run as a candidate for your Alderman at Large in Brandon. Very humbling to me and my family to be considered to help lead Brandon forward. I have worked in public service for over 20 years beginning my career at the age of 18. I appreciate the experience that has come with that from managing budgets, reducing spending, overseeing large building projects and much more, my service to the public has been rewarding. I often reflect back when I have moments to think on how many blessings God has given this ole boy. I owe everything to Heaven.

I have been married to my wife, Ola, for 21 years. She has worked full time in the financial industry for 17 years and is currently employed with Raymond James & Associates, Inc. We have two children, Amelia (20) and Devin Ty (12) who we have raised here in Brandon and both are products of the Brandon School District. Amelia is attending Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Devin is in the 6th grade at Brandon Middle School.

Our family also has a small business in Brandon, Sno Biz. Our community has supported this location now for over 22 years. I can’t say it enough, thank all of you for supporting our locally owned and operated business. I am asking for your vote in the upcoming election for Alderman at Large. I want to employ my conservative values and put them to work for you in our city government. My family and I ask for your prayers as we travel on this journey, a few extra would be fantastic.

My name is Eric Fox and I believe we can be better than yesterday.

Eric

Snuck away for a few minutes from work to celebrate Devin Ty. He is 13 years old today.

Contrary to popular belief that practice makes perfect, actually practice makes improvement. We can always better our best, we can go beyond anything we have ever done. Our most important better is to make sure we introduce our children to Heaven. Afterwards, try to instill in them to stand for their principles and fight hard when its time to fight. The world is ugly, thank God I have no long term plans for here.

Attended Church on Friday evening at Pine Lake as a visitor with my family. Chip, the Pastor outlined a message "don't get caught up in the distractions". Not sure why, but this year I have struggled with forgiveness. Even more difficult for me has been not exposing those responsible. I am certain doing these things are not a practice of the Christian faith. Further, who would it benefit to do so anyhow? During the message it dawned on me that I have been distracted. There is Justice, and then there is Mercy. What would I benefit from being right? If you believe you would gain more than a gesture or grin, you are probably wrong. Mercy has always been present in my life. And each time I get ready to "expose" them Mercy has been in the front. I am distracted by what they done to me, and Justice is allowing me to feel its ok to expose the untruth. But Mercy says to Justice, "Leave it alone". Mercy says that you have no right to kill something until you have done everything you can to save it. My New Year's resolution will be committing to not being distracted. I'm asking God to draw me closer to Him, so no distractions can hinder my relationship with Heaven. I will leave us all with this. Many including myself have said that money can't buy happiness. At 40 years old I have found that this statement is not true. Money indeed buys happiness, you just have to give it away.

Earlier this morning as I walked through the foyer I took a moment to check on a few tree ornaments that are at least 35 years old. Not sure how I have kept up with them through the years with all the movement as a kid. They originally belonged to my mother's mother, Charlie Pearl Bagwell from Ethel,MS. As a child I spent many weekends with her, and when I see these antiques I can smell the morning of Christmas and fresh brewed coffee mixed with bacon and biscuits with a tall glass of milk. Hold on today to what you have left, it just may be the key ingredient to your days ahead. This year has come with so many challenges for each of us, lets unite and have a wonderful Christmas, remembering why we celebrate the special day. ... See MoreSee Less
